Inez Milholland Boissevain is commonly known as the woman in white, riding astride on horseback, leading the Washington D.C. Suffragist parade of 1913. Her face is likely the most recognized in images of the movement. The woman in white on horseback.

Inez, known to her family as Nan, was the Joan of Arc-like Symbolic Leader of the Suffragist Movement. she was a prolific public Women’s Rights Speaker, a Women’s Rights advocate, an attorney, a children’s rights advocate, a peace activist, a journalist, a Socialist, an athlete, a pacifist, and a her image was popularized as the New Woman or the "First Feminists" of the Twentieth Century.
