Leading Lady Frances Ellen Watkins Harper

Frances Ellen Watkins Harper was a novelist & The first African American Woman to Publish a Short Story. She was also among the first African American Women to Have Her Poetry Published in the United States. She was also a teacher & superintendent, an abolitionist & Member of the Pennsylvania Abolition Society, and a well known and respected orator, reformer, African American suffragist, and Underground Railroad advocate.
