Ida B. Wells-Barnett 

Ida B. Wells Barnett was born into slavery in Holly Springs, Mississippi. She was emancipated after the Civil War. She became a journalist, and she used her platform to write about the daily struggle of African Americans. Ida was a beacon for Civil Rights, advocating for every injustice she possibly could. She lectured on oppression, she, the lack of support that women of color experienced from white women in the Suffrage Movement, and she urged her audiences and readers to fight for change, and racial equality in the United States.
