Leading Lady Marsha Ivins

Leading Lady Marsha Ivins became the 13th Woman in Space in 1990 aboard Space Shuttle Columbia! She is a retired NASA Astronaut and an engineer who designed & built of spacecraft & helped build space shuttles and their displays & controls. She also helped develop the Orbiter Heads-Up, and the training for these machines. She participated in the successful retrieval of the LDEF in 1984, conducted the first tethered satellite system test flight, launched to the International Space Station aboard Atlantis on the first human spaceflight of the 21st century, and she was present for the 100th U.S. Spacewalk. Marsha is the astronaut consultant behind the movie Interstellar. You can thank her for the accuracy in the film's acting, scenery, and even some of the filming itself, as she filmed space using an IMAX camera.
