Katherine is considered to be a “Radium Girl.” She was an American dial painter with the United States Radium Dial Corporation located in Orange, New Jersey. Poisoned by the radium paint she applied to clock and watch dials, Katherine joined the unprecedented lawsuit against the company. The dial painters bravely shared their truth, determined to hold the company responsible for their wrong doing.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMany dial painters passed away from extensive and horrible side effects of the poisoning, and were never compensated for what they experienced. Others spent years of their lives with health complications due to exposure to radium.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe artwork created for Katherine’s paper doll is my artistic interpretation of her likeness based on the sources available to me. Please note that the sources and information regarding the Radium Girls contains graphic content pertaining to what happened to the dial painters, and caution should be heeded when read and viewed by young audiences.
